Obama Chooses Hart Schaffner Marx Inaugural Wear

 My Zimbio

Hart Schaffner Marx has announced that it will once again be dressing Barack
Obama for the Inauguration on Jan 20.  This 121 year old company has been
dressing heads of states through their subsidiary, Hickey Freeman, for at least
50 years.  Prominent politicians from President Eisenhower to Hubert Humphry to Al Gore have all chosen the “iconic style of Hickey Freeman suits to convey the authority of their roles”, according to Lisa Wells, public relations director.

For the inauguration, Ms. Wells told All The Rage that Mr. Obama would appear in a Hart Schaffner Marx suit, with a black cashmere overcoat.  People will be familiar with the Hart Schaffner Marx suits, as the navy worsted wool that he wore in Denver was also from the company.  “The silhouette is a classic fit; he’s a 40 long with a 33-inch waist.” According to Lisa Wells, director of public relations Hickey Freeman subsidiary of Hartmax.

The evening festivities will find President Obama, (which he will be at that time), in a black 100% wool tuxedo.  The jacket is a satin notch lapel, one-button; the trousers are single-pleat with a grosgrain accent.  The satin notch lapel tuxedo sells for $695 on the Hart Schaffner Marx web site.

It doesn’t hurt that Hart Schaffner Marx is “an American, union-made manufacturer” according to Brett Schenck, President.
