The President was greeted with roaring crowds and volunteers clad in “Yes We Can 2.0″ t-shirts at the Corzine rally at Fairleigh Dickinson University today. He was quickly introduced by Governor Corzine who is suffering from poor favorable ratings in a tough re-election campaign, The President, with his 80% approval in New Jersey, hoped to rally support before the Nov 3 election.
Later the President was joined by Caroline Kennedy who recalled how she spent “some of the happiest days of my childhood with my mother and brother in New Jersey”. She recalled Governor Corzine’s work with her “Uncle Teddy” when both were in the Senate and that Corzine “has never forgotten where he came from.” “He was born on a farm to a middle-class family that lost everything in The Depression,” she said, which drives him to fight for New Jersey families. “Jon Corzine stabilized New Jersey’s finances, he improved schools, he protected the homes and jobs of hardworking families, and he created a green economy. He has done all this despite fact we are living through the worse recession in 70 years.”
The President will return to New Jersey on Nov 1 along with Vice President Biden, Caroline Kennedy, former President Clinton and other Democrats to rally the vote in the final days of the campaign.
