Vice President Panel Middle Class Task Force
Vice President Biden is gathering together a panel of scholars to discuss economic developments and trends affecting middle class families. The panel will be held on Thursday at the Center for American Progress (CAP) who are co-hosting along with the Economic Policy Institute (EPI). In recent years the real median income of working-age households fell, despite overall economic expansion between 2000 and 2007. In 2009, there was a 3.4% drop in median household income, the largest one-year decline since the 1960s. In response, President Obama established the Middle Class Task Force to ensure that the policies aimed at lifting the living standards of middle class families are effective.Joining Vice President Biden will be Melody Barnes, Director of the White House Domestic Policy Council; Lawrence Mishel, President, Economic Policy Institute; Heather Boushey, Senior Economist, Center for American Progress; Isabel Sawhill, Senior Fellow on Economic Studies, Brookings Institution; and others.
